Life as a teaching practice – Medical Students

As a teaching practice we often have ST2 & ST3 GP trainees, however towards the end of last year we had our first Medical Students come and work for a 6 week placement. One of them has gone on to win an award for a project she undertook while with us.

” I spent one month at Mann Cottage Surgery as a part of the final year of my medical degree at Imperial College London. I was able to actively learn about medicine in holding my own consultations with patients before they were seen by the doctor. I saw a diverse range of patients and was able to learn so much under supervision of the staff; it was crucial in helping me to become a better doctor. Furthermore, I conducted a project about contraception in collaboration with the team at Mann Cottage Surgery to improve services for patients. I really enjoyed my time with the patients and staff of Mann Cottage Surgery and was awarded the Grant Blair Prize by my university in recognition of this. Thank you, Mann Cottage Surgery!”

Well done Mabel!
