Changes to Prescription Ordering

Due to increasing patient numbers and demand and to enable us to safely dispense patients medication we are changing the opening hours for the practice dispensary with effect from Tuesday 2nd May. This will enable us to have protected time to help staff to process the increased volume of prescriptions.

The dispensary will be open 09:00 – 13:00, 14:30 – 18:00 for ordering and collection and the phone lines will be open 09:30-13:00, 14:30 – 18:00 for ordering. Medication can still be ordered between and during those times via NHS App or online.

Just a reminder also that both the dispensary and local pharmacy require time to process your prescription orders , this has also now changed so please allow 5 working days between ordering and attending to collect your medication. This is to provide you with a safe and efficient service.

Please do not order early to cover Bank holidays unless your medication is due to run out during that period or you will be away when your medication is due. Excessive demand can cause delays and put unnecessary pressure on practice staff who need to ensure medications are dispensed safely.

To obtain medication URGENTLY in hours please call the Dispensary on 01608 650764. For out of hours call the NHS 111 Service.

It is practice policy following ICB guidance to ensure that supplies can be maintained and avoid unnecessary waste that repeat prescriptions are issued for a 28 day/one month period only except for a minority of medications which are prescribed 3 monthly. Please check with dispensary if in doubt.
